Object Desktop 2008 was just released, so I created a screencast which walks you through what is included with both Object Desktop 2008, and Object Desktop 2008 Ultimate.  Each application gets a brief overview, along with a look at Impulse.  This is great for anyone who might not be too familiar with the popular applications that are included.

SkinStudio 6 was released today!  SkinStudio is a free application designed to easily create skins for WindowBlinds for both Windows XP and Vista.

"SkinStudio 6 is a complete rewrite of previous versions of the program. Over time, as the number of elements of Windows that could be changed increased, the older versions of SkinStudio became very complex. SkinStudio 6 is re-designed to provide skinners a step-by-step way of creating their own Windows visual styles that, upon completion, can be applied with WindowBlinds."

Free version is available, along with the Pro version for $19.95.

This is another skin from Stardock Design.  This design is really cool because it shows off some of the animation capabilities of WindowBlinds 6.  With this skin, when you open the start menu, there is a smoothly animated dragon at the top.

MikeB314 has done it again, updating some of his most popular WB skins.

"Originally created in 2004, Luster is now fully updated for Windows Vista. It features lots of glassy transparent stuff, including glass Explorer backgrounds, glass Explorer scrollbars, and other bits. The XP substyle has been updated as well with new transparent window frames and drop shadows. Both skins also have a new Start menu and Start button, and other improvements."

Object Desktop 2008 is scheduled for a late March release, and today on WinCustomize, Brad showed off what Object Desktop 2008 will look like.  If you are not familiar with what Object Desktop is, it’s a suite of desktop enhancements to change the look, feel, and function of Windows Vista and XP.  What’s new in 2008 is that Object Desktop will be split into two.

    • Object Desktop (WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX, DeskScapes, SoundPackager, MyColors)
    • Object Desktop Ultimate (the above plus over a dozen other programs)

The exciting part is anyone with an active subscription to ObjectDesktop.net on March 31, 2008 will automatically get upgraded to Object Desktop Ultimate free of charge.

Many of you probably remember StealthOS.  It was first released in 2004 and quickly became a very popular WindowBlinds skin.  I still see screenshots of people using it today.  Well MikeB314 has updated StealthOS for WindowBlinds 6 and Windows Vista.  He also added a new start button, start menu, and other improvements.

This has become a very popular WindowBlinds skin in the past week, and rightly so.  It has a very smooth design and works well with both XP and Vista.
